Updating your Bybit identity verification after a name change, new address or expired ID

What to do on Bybit when your verified details change: a new passport, an expired ID, a married name or a move, and how to avoid withdrawal problems while the update is reviewed.

Identity verification is usually treated as a one-time chore at sign-up. Life changes that. Passports expire, people move, names change after marriage, and an account verified years ago may no longer match the documents you carry. Bybit may ask you to refresh your verification, and it is far easier to do so on your schedule than in the middle of an urgent withdrawal. This guide covers when to update, how to do it in the app and how to time it.

Check what Bybit has on file

In the Bybit app, open your profile and go to Identity Verification. The page shows your current level and, in some cases, prompts to update documents. If you have received an email or in-app notice asking for re-verification, open it from inside the app rather than via any link in a message, and check the request appears there too.

Prepare matching documents

For a new passport or ID, have the new document ready and make sure the name matches the one you will type exactly. For a name change, Bybit may ask for supporting documents linking the old and new names, such as a marriage certificate; check what the app lists before uploading. For a move, a recent utility bill or bank statement with your full name and new address is typical.

Time it away from withdrawals

Reviews can take a while, and some features may be limited until the update is approved. Avoid starting an update just before you need to move funds. If you are planning a large withdrawal, do it before the update or wait until verification is complete. Do not open a second account to get around a pending review; that tends to create more problems.

Keep the details aligned elsewhere

Once approved, make sure any bank or payment account you use with Bybit is in the same name. Update the email and phone on the account if they changed too, and refresh your security settings while you are in the profile menu. Keep copies of the documents you submitted in a private folder, not in your phone's shared photo stream.

If the update is rejected

A rejection normally comes with a reason, such as a blurred photo, a cropped corner or a name that does not match. Fix only that item and resubmit from the same Identity Verification page. Photograph documents on a dark, non-reflective surface with all four corners visible. If the reason is unclear, open the in-app chat and quote the submission date instead of sending documents through the conversation. Anyone offering to speed up approval for a fee is not part of Bybit.
